Sicilian Wine Itineraries 


Sicilian wines are appreciated throughout the world and successfully exported to fruitful markets like Canada and China.

For all the people who live in Sicily or visit it can taste different types of wines direclty through the Wine Itineraries.
Let's find out what they are.


The wine roads, set up in 1999 in order to enhance the growing areas, represent a practical tool to showcase certain natural landscapes, perfectly integrated with the production of wine and grapes. 
Wine itineraries are advertised with special signs, along which insist the natural, cultural and environmental, vineyards and wineries of farms, or groups open to the public; they are an instrument through which the wine regions and its products can be polularizedin the form of tourism. 

In Sicily there are 12 Wine Itineraries:
Wine Route in the Province of Messina.  Malvasia is the top product.
Wine Route of Etna, around the highest active Vulcan in Europe. Nerello Mascalese is the most valuable product.
Wine Route of the Cerasuolo di Vittoria includes the whole range of south eastern Sicily, including the provinces of Ragusa and Siracusa, part of Baroque Heritage Sites.
Wine Route of Castelli Nisseni, in the middle of Sicily, is well known for the Nero Nisseno.
Wine Road of Terre Sicane, between the Valley of the Temples and the whole province of Agrigento.
In the province of Trapani, between Erice and Marsala we find Wine Road Alcamo Doc, with the DOC productions of Terre d'Occidente and Val di Mazara.
In addition,The Wine Route Erice Doc, Wine Road on the path of the Targa Florio, The Wine Route Val di Mazara, The Wine Route Val di Noto, The Wine Route Marsala-Terre d'Occidente.
Finally.. Wine Road Monreale, in the province of Palermo, where Cataratto is certainly the most appreciated wine.
